Lisa Wright – Rising Strong

Last night I headed to the Bluebird Sessions, an in the round style night hosted by Amy Westney. The line-up was just brilliant, featuring Holloway Road, Two Ways Home, Simon James, Ceri-Rose and Irene Rae, while Amy herself came up at the end and did a brilliant and emotional four song set.

The night was high on quality throughout. It was the first time I’d seen Simon James and Irene Rae and I’d certainly recommend them if you haven’t seen them before. Two Ways Home were brilliant with their great harmonies, Ceri-Rose really impressed with her strong vocals and Holloway Road were fantastic as always.

The performance of the night for me was from Lisa Wright. Her set was centred around her upcoming EP and from what I have heard so far, it’s sure to be a winner. Rising Strong (above) was the first song she performed and this high quality number set the tone for the rest of the set, culminating in an outstanding duet with Jack Cooper from Holloway Road.
