Tenille Townes Releases New Single “White Horse”
We have already been given a taste of what to expect from Tenillle Townes’ upcoming debut album thanks to the moving single “Somebody’s Daughter” and another teaser was released last Friday in the shape of “ White Horse” .
Both tracks featured on her acoustic EP “ Living Room Work Tapes” but of course have now been given full studio production, overseen by Jay Joyce.
This new single was co-written by Tenillle, Jeremy Spillman and Daniel Tashian and received a world exclusive first play here in the UK thanks to Bob Harris which some of you no doubt heard.
It challenges the fairy tale image that we are fed by society of what love should be. As Tenille herself says, the song is “ about how love can look a bit different than we might expect it to…….I love that this song stands strongly in the idea that love isn’t always about the ivory towers and the roses”.
The studio version has a much punchier sound thanks largely to the driving drum beat, there’s anthemic backing vocals added too, but nothing can distract from Tenille’s distinctive vocals and thoughtful, inspiring lyrics…….so many good lines in this song, among my personal favourites “you make me feel like I’m a mystery to you, not some kind of prize” .
