Video Premiere of Joey Clarkson’s “Home”

It’s always an honour when an artist offers Belles and Gals a video premiere, especially when the song concerned is as personal and poignant as this one from Canadian born Joey.
We introduced you to her earlier this year (https://www.bellesandgals.com/2018/01/21/getting-to-know-joey-clarkson-by-lesley-hastings/) but her life has taken a few unexpected and very unwelcome twists since this interview. It’s been a time of emotional turmoil and uncertainty for her and her family to say the least, which has literally only been resolved in the past week.
“Home” was inspired by these experiences, which involved the UK Government rejecting her initial application for her to join her British husband serving in the HM forces in London. Delays to her second application being processed put enormous strain on their relationship and cost them financially too.
Only now, a year after they said their vows and 8 months after they faced their first hurdle, are they able to move forward knowing that come September she will be able to return to London from Canada and legally be allowed to call it her home.
As Joey says, “This song is a love letter to your family; to every mother, father, sister, brother, friend and child who’s ever felt the ache of a homesick heart.”
This music video was produced by StubbornMelon Productions in Bridport, Dorset – a place that Joey says has always felt like a second home and coincidentally happens to be her husband’s hometown.
