Today we continue with our popular “Your Voice, Your Choice” feature on Belles and Gals, the 44th edition of the feature! We introduce one of our favourite songs from a country artist and then the artist tells us in turn about a song that has inspired them and has a special place in their heart. Today we feature UK country artist Helena Mace.
We’ve featured Helena Mace on Belles and Gals a number of times now and we were delighted when we heard she was bringing out a new album. The record is called ‘Chasing Dreams’ and really highlights both the songwriting and vocal ability of Helena. Above, my choice for Helena is ‘Rescue Me’, one of my favourite tracks on the album, which features 10 songs, nine penned by Helena herself. Helena has chosen ‘Tin Man’ by Miranda Lambert
OK. I chose Miranda lambert with Tin Man. Watching her perform that acoustically at the awards made me want to learn guitar properly. I worked really hard and now play live (including that track) . I found the song beautiful and inspiring as it was a track most people could relate to and the emotion in it was clear. After hearing it, I wanted to learn to play it and I did and since then wrote an entire album with my guitar based on personal experiences x
