Your Voice, Your Choice #29 – Kayla Woodson

Today we continue with our popular  “Your Voice, Your Choice” feature on Belles and Gals. We introduce one of our favourite songs from a country artist and then the artist tells us in turn about a song that has inspired them and has a special place in their heart. Today we feature US country artist Kayla Woodson.

We’re huge fans of Kayla Woodson here at Belles and Gals, ever since we heard ‘Fan for the Flame’ above. The song featured on Kayla’s self titled EP and we were so impressed with the record that we nominated it as one of our five EP’s of the year! Kayla is a real rising star in the industry, and has just completed a busy month, including a full band set in Nashville, an acoustic showcase and a series of radio interviews.

I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for Kayla. To find out more about the singer, click her links below:

Kayla has chosen ‘Jolene’ by Dolly Parton

She writes:

‘Dolly Parton is one of my biggest inspirations as a singer, performer, songwriter, and overall business woman, who has been able to handle the immense longevity of a country music career. Her song “Jolene” has been one of my favorites since forever! Though I have no relation to what she is talking about in the song, she makes me feel so connected to the story. Dolly uses such descriptive language and emotion, it makes you feel like you are there seeing and feeling for this person. She is definitely an A+ songwriter, who has made a huge impact in country music as well as the songwriting community. On a songwriting level, one day I want to get to the point when I can write songs that touch and move people like she does with “Jolene.”‘
