Here at Belles and Gals we are truly delighted to be one of the sponsors for the upcoming tour of the UK by Caitlin Koch. Earlier today, the line up for C2C 2017 was announced and Caitlin was announced as an artist appearing on both Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th March. So we took an opportunity to ask her about her UK tour, playing at C2C and her career to date!
Hi Caitlin! I have to say that here at Belles and Gals we’re real excited about your upcoming trip to the UK. Are you as excited as we are?
Yessss I am & I can’t thank you enough for your support of this Tour.
This morning it was announced that you’ll be performing at C2C! That must be an incredible feeling?
Yess I am beyond thrilled to be on the bill for that. I’ve heard so much about the event & the band & I are blessed to be performing both Sat & Sun… I’m so excited !
Have you played in the UK before? Or have you even been to the UK previously?
I was in the UK for rehearsals while on The X Factor USA for the Judges’ Homes round.. Simon was in France at that time, so we rehearsed in London & flew to France to compete. Love the UK, & London specifically.
Aside from the tour, what are you most looking forward to when coming over the pond?
I want to get some sight seeing in for sure (not that we have any time! Lol) & maybe meet some ruggers… I have a teammate who lives in UK so I look forward to reconnecting with her.
What was it that originally made you want to sing? And what is it about country music?
I’ve always loved music & Elvis was a huge influence on me when I was young. I did have a defining moment when I was 15.. I won a contest in my hometown called “Buffalo Idol” & therefore got to open for Avril Lavigne & Gavin DeGraw at the Key Bank Center.. It was my first show & I performed for 14,000 people. I felt so at home on stage & recognized music was more than a pastime for me. And, I’ve always loved Country Music (Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash). Living in Nashville has widened my perspective, though. Country is not just music- it’s a way of life. It’s full of God fearing, incredibly talented, down-to-earth individuals. Living in Nashville taught me so much about the community & industry here.. There are real people/Artists in Country & I’m honored to be in their company.
And which artists would you say have influenced you the most throughout your career?
There are so many when I think about it but Elvis is and always will be a major influence. My mother was a huge fan of his & she raised me on his music. “Don’t” is probably my favorite, though they’re all good. I admire him so much.. He was a monster, but was humble & down-to-earth at the same time. I always imagined him that way, but moving to Nashville put me in contact with people who knew him personally & their stories solidified my perception. He’s the King.
We recently featured your brilliant cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Simple Man on the site. Can I ask where that amazing voice came from?
Bahahhh ah, thank you. I greatly appreciate your kindness. And I love that song so I’m glad you enjoyed that version.
You reached the final stages of the X-factor in the US, where you made it onto Simon Cowell’s team? That must have been an amazing experience?!
Yes it is, to this day, one of my greatest experiences. I was in awe the entire time. I also met some incredible, talented, down-to-earth individuals that I stay in touch with today.
If you could look ahead ten years, where would you want to see yourself in your singing career?
I want to see progress & success, as any Artist would. True Artists are always developing, changing, working their craft… So, more writing, new music, touring (more) internationally.. having the respect of my peers in Country Music would mean a lot to me.
To finish, can you give us details of where we can come out and see you on the tour?
Yes, come out! Dates are listed on all of my Social Media outlets (Facebook.com/caitlinkochmusic) & caitlinkoch.com. Tickets available at venues and wegottickets.com.
