Moore and More – Lisa Wright

If the name Lisa Wright seems foreign to you now, keep reading – this is an artist you’re going to want to know.
Born and bred in Essex this killer songwriter is everything you don’t expect from the infamous town. Wit, humour and beauty as natural as they come, and humility that would please Lori McKenna. When asked about the incredible response she’s had from critics and fans she says “It’s always surreal when someone compliments a certain song and you think, ‘God, do they know I wrote that in my bedroom sitting in my pyjamas’.
Following the huge success of her debut EP ‘Before I Die’ and standout single ‘Back To You’, Lisa’s sophomore EP is being previewed Monday 9th January at Londons Green Note to a sold out crowd.
There’s an enticing air of mystery surrounding the EP, with few details being given away before it’s first performance next week. However everything I did hear about the project reminded me of why I’ve been a big fan of Lisa since the beginning; her sincerity. When we spoke about the direction of the EP Lisa said “I wanted to take my time with this one and make sure it’s 100% the music and sound I wanted to show. It’s multi-layered and the songs range in dynamic. Some are more bluegrass, others pop – but all written with the same thing in common and that’s just trying to be as honest as possible.”
The EP is Co-produced by ‘Before I Die’ Nashville based producer Garry Wood (Rad Records) and Holloway Roads Jack Gulston, both of whom get high praise from Wright. On working with Garry, Lisa says “He’s incredibly talented and I knew that the atmosphere and style for the two songs would work wonders in his care.” Of good friend Jack Gulston, Lisa added he knew how to “spin out a banger filled with loads of personality.”
