Kayla Calabrese – Give

Today I feature Kayla Calabrese for the first time. I’ve had Kayla on my ‘must listen to’ list for a while now, but with that list being so long (can all you country artists take a break for a while, so I can catch up??) it took a while. Yesterday I spent a lot of time in the car, so I started playing Kayla’s recent “Glass Stiletto” EP.

I always know if I’m impressed with an EP as it takes much longer than it should do – this due to me skipping back to the start of a song again and having another listen repeatedly. This 6 track EP took nearly an hour, as I kept replaying songs over and over. Highlights on the EP for me were “Give” (above) which is a brilliant catchy number, the beautiful “Whisper” and the fantastic and very clever “Happily Never After” which name checks a number of Disney characters, although as you can see from the title, this is no fairy story! To single out just three songs don’t do the other songs justice however, as all six songs are just excellent. Kayla Calabrese has a fantastic and powerful voice and I for one can’t wait to hear more!
