Lauren Housley – My Sleeping Heart

Today I’m delighted to feature Lauren Housley and her latest single ‘My Sleeping Heart’ – and it’s great that Lauren herself introduced the track! Lauren, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, arrived on the UK music scene in 2016 and has drawn critical acclaim from the likes of Bob Harris, Paul Sexton, Q Magazine and No Depression. 

This autumn sees the release of Lauren’s upcoming E.P. and ‘My Sleeping Heart’ is our first glimpse, a song that came about after a chance meeting with a ‘broken hearted man’ in a bar at Americana Fest in 2017. 

Lauren Housley – “I understood where this man was coming from. He had been carrying the hurt from a past love for a long time and was finally making peace with it. As soon as I got back to the room, I picked up the guitar and started writing “My Sleeping Heart”. 

The track is a collaborative effort with fellow Rotherham musical director Thomas Dibb, a crucial part of the duo’s creative process on the new album.
