Catherine McGrath surprised many excited fans with her album announcement last night.

The Irish singer/songwriter posted a picture of her debut album cover, Talk of this Town, which is due to be released on the 27th of July

This happened just hours before the midnight release of her latest single Wild.

Wild is a Pop-Country tune capturing the feelings of unrequited love. The new single has proved popular with fans long before it’s release, with McGrath playing the song on both supporting shows and her own tour.

Catherine tells the story of a Coldplay concert on a Thursday night. Her date isn’t paying her any attention though, texting his ex throughout. We know texting during a concert is a taboo, let alone an ex on a date! We can all sympathise with this upbeat heartbreaker.

With clever lines like “I wish that I could fix you” (clearly a reference to the Coldplay hit) and “you’re looking in my eyes but you’re somewhere else” Catherine expresses her songwriting talents as well as her distinctive voice on this track.

The song itself was taken from a rant about the whole situation to her co-writer Lindy Robbins, who noted it down on her laptop. “We just kinda pieced it all together” Catherine told her Country to Country audience last year.

You can preorder Catherine McGrath’s album, Talk of this Town, on both iTunes and her website.
