Today we continue with our popular “Your Voice, Your Choice” feature on Belles and Gals. We introduce one of our favourite songs from a country artist and then the artist tells us in turn about a song that has inspired them and has a special place in their heart. Today we feature UK  artist Roisin O’Hagan!

We featured Roisin O’Hagan on the site for the first time just 12 days ago and what an impact she made – I wrote the following:

“…occasionally, you’ll find an absolute gem, which makes all of the time put in more than worth it. The absolute gem in this case was Roisin O’Hagan with ‘Living in the Dark’. This performance had me hooked from the first few seconds and never let go.” Check the full post here – http://bellesandgals.com/2018/02/04/roisin-ohagan-living-in-the-dark/

Today I’m featuring ‘Up and Run’ recorded live at an ‘Art Will Fall’ acoustic session. Once again, Roisin shows a rare talent and a real confidence in her performance. Check out Roisin’s ‘Blue and Grey’ EP on Spotify too –

Roisin has chosen ‘Round Here’ by the Counting Crows

“I get lost in this live version of ‘Round Here’ by Counting Crows every time I listen to it. Adam Duritz has such a unique, expressive way of communicating not only a raw and winding story but exactly what it’s like to be part of that narrative. At times in this performance you really understand how torn and tortured he feels and at other times you are part of an unapologetically honest stream of consciousness. It gives me shivers. This song drives me to write songs that truly say something; to delve into the deepest, heaviest and most overwhelming of feelings we all experience, from the broken, hopeless times to the moments of pure happiness.”
