If you’re a follower of female country artists (as we are!) you will surely have seen ‘Time’s Up’ from the Song Suffragettes on social media in the last few days. This video is incredibly powerful and has been made in support of the ‘Time’s Up Legal Defense’ fund (https://www.gofundme.com/timesup). The song is striking (you can’t take your eyes off the video), featuring many of the best up and coming female country artists.
About the fund:
‘TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund will provide subsidized legal support to women and men who have experienced sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace and while in pursuit of their careers. The Fund will ultimately be housed at and administrated by the National Women’s Law Center, an established, national women’s rights legal organization. A network of lawyers and public relations professionals across the country will work with the Center’s Legal Network for Gender Equity to provide assistance to those ready to stand up. Access to prompt and comprehensive legal and communications help will mean empowerment for these individuals and long term growth for our culture and communities as a whole.’
The Song Suffragettes are a female collective who perform every Monday at Nashville’s Listening Room Cafe (you may have seen us share many of their videos). It looks a fantastic evening and many of the Belles and Gals team have made it an aim to head along to the show when in Nashville.
Give Song Suffragettes a follow on social media – they might be on the other side of the pond from us, but we share the same aim – promoting the hell out of female country artists and giving them a fair deal.
