Your Voice, Your Choice #25 – Megan O’Neill

Today we continue with a great new feature on Belles and Gals – “Your Voice, Your Choice”. We introduce one of our favourite songs from a country artist and then the artist tells us in turn about a song that has inspired them and has a special place in their heart. Today we feature Irish Country star Megan O’Neill.

After starting Belles and Gals in early 2016, the first artist I ever saw live was Megan O’Neill. It was an early slot at C2C on the Town Square stage and Megan’s name was the first I ever wrote on my original, trusty notepad. A lot has happened in the two years since for both Megan and the site (sadly, the notepad is no more and has been updated with a digital version!).

I saw Megan perform again at Nashville Meets London in the summer of last year and she was simply brilliant, and if you have never listened to her and the Common Threads latest EP ‘Stories to Tell’, you’re REALLY missing out. Above you can see and hear ‘Why I Need You’, the latest single from Megan. It’s simply beautiful with stunning vocals from the UK/Irish artist. The song is the first single from Megan’s debut album which will be released early next year. That being the fact, 2018 is shaping up to be excellent already!

Megan has chosen “The Eye” by Brandi Carlile

Megan writes:

“I just think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. So simple and so powerful. I pretty much listened to this entire album (The Firewatcher’s Daughter) on repeat when writing my own album this year. I find Brandi Carlile’s work very inspiring, honest and human.”
