Today we continue with a great new feature on Belles and Gals  – “Your Voice, Your Choice”. We introduce one of our favourite songs from a  country artist and then the artist tells us in turn about a song that has inspired them and has a special place in their heart. Today we feature UK country artist Jade Helliwell.

It’s been quite an amazing year for UK country singer Jade Helliwell. A video of Jade performing an impromptu rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ with a busker in Leeds went viral and at last count had received over 16 million views on YouTube! On the back of this, Jade’s ‘Forget the Night’ E.P. surged to number one on the UK country charts, joined at one point by an album she had released two years previously at number 2! To top it all off, Jade was recently named the BCMA (British Country Music Association) Female Vocalist of the Year! I get the feeling that ‘Wonder Woman’ might be phoning Jade soon and asking her how she does it…?

Featured above is Jade with ‘Ask Me To Stay’ and you can see for yourself the quality of Jade’s vocals, while the song is simply gorgeous. Jade has a new single out very soon, and having had a sneak preview, you all have a lot to look forward to! Jade is one of the leading lights of the UK country scene, and boy are we lucky to have her!

Jade has chosen ‘Hold My Hand’ by Brandy Clark.

Jade writes:

“A song that has inspired me and I absolutely love is ‘Hold My Hand’ by Brandy Clark. I remember the first time I heard it at C2C songwriters night a few years back and just being blown away by the songwriting. It makes me want to be a better songwriter and dream of one day writing a song that special.”
