Delighted to continue a great new feature on Belles and Gals today – “Your Voice, Your Choice”. We introduce one of our favourite songs from a  country artist and then the artist tells us in turn about a song that has inspired them and has a special place in their heart. Today we feature Belles and Gals favourite Emma Moore.

It’s fantastic to feature Emma Moore again and here she is with the fantastic ‘Southern Belle’. The eagle eyed amongst you might realise that we’ve featured this video before, but when a song is this good, there is no reason why we can’t feature it twice! Last year Emma released her debut album ‘Pilot’ (buy it here on iTunes), an album we described as ‘simply brilliant’. Now Emma is back with new music, we all have a lot to look forward to – and check out the fantastic video too!

Emma has chosen ‘You Got Fat, I Got Famous’ by Ashley McBryde

I’ve picked a track by Bra… just kidding! I regularly talk about my love for all things Brandy Clark but I thought I’d take the opportunity to shine a light on a newer favourite. I can’t ever remember hearing a song by a new artist and immediately downloading everything they’ve ever recorded, but that’s exactly what happened when I heard ‘Fat and Famous’ by Ashley McBryde. I love a sassy song, and throw in an edge of rebellion and clever lyrics and I’m pretty much gonna love it. It’s hard to pick a favourite line, but “I got a headline gig in Austin, you got a closet drinking problem and a juvenile delinquent souvenir from senior prom.” is definite contender, and let’s you know just how much sass and attitude you’re in for.

To me, Ashley is the perfect blend between traditional and contemporary – a beautiful, classic country voice gliding over witty and brave lyrics. Go check her out folks, I think you’ll be glad you did.
