Your Voice Your Choice #5 – The Reklaws
Delighted to continue a great new feature on Belles and Gals today – “Your Voice, Your Choice”. We introduce one of our favourite songs from a country artist and then the artist tells us in turn about a song that has inspired them and has a special place in their heart. Today we feature US sibling duo ‘The Reklaws’.
The Reklaws are a brother/sister duo originally from Canada, but now residing in Nashville. We’ve featured ‘Hometown Kids’, their great new single which really shows off their high energy performance. I asked the duo about the song – “Some lyrics that really stick out in our minds would be “Friday, Saturday, Chevrolet” – name a lyric in this genre that is more country than that! The song is basically a platform of where we come from and what you can expect coming from The Reklaws in the future. One more lyric is “back woods, back yard, back porch never gonna grow up” – it narrows down where the party actually is and gives the listener a visual representation of exactly where it’s all going down this weekend.”
The Reklaws have chosen “Say My Name” by Tove Stryke
New favourite, “Say My Name” – Tove Stryke. Probably one of the best songs in pop music right now. Production is undeniably different, the beat captures you immediately and Tove’s vocals are so powerful when the chorus hits. Definitely not country, but a good song is a good song.
