Interview with Ali Morgan

Just a few weeks ago we featured Ali Morgan for the first time, a 13 year old singer songwriter who is making great waves in the country music scene. Literally a couple of days after deciding to feature Ali it was announced that she had signed a deal with Silverado Records, so there is little doubt that we’re soon going to be hearing a lot more from Ali Morgan. I was lucky enough to grab an interview with Ali recently and this is what she had to say!

Hi Ali! Last week we featured you on Belles and Gals for the first time, just as the news was breaking that you had signed a record deal with Silverado Records! How exciting have the last 7 days been?!

Incredibly exciting!  Right now it’s been one new experience after another for me.  I look forward to what my future holds with Silverado Records!

We can’t wait to hear your new music when it appears. Tell the readers of Belles and Gals a little bit about your sound.

Actually, I just recorded my first single with the amazingly talented Mr. Chad Carlson.  My sound really depends on the song, most of the music I’ve written is definitely country.  However, I do love many genres of music, so some may think there is a twist of pop in there as well.  

Being such an accomplished country artist at the age of just 13, you must have started incredibly young. When exactly did you first start singing and performing?

I have always been the performer in my family. My parents have pictures of me with a microphone in hand at a very young age.  I started loving the stage performing in musical theatre at the age of 7.  By the age of 10, I was dreaming of becoming the best country singer/songwriter I could be. Ever since, I’ve been working very hard to try and make that happen.  I’ve started co-writing, which is another new experience for me.  It’s amazing how much you can learn from another songwriter.  I am very thankful for every step so far because it’s turning me into a better singer/songwriter.

Which singers and songwriters have inspired you and who do you listen to yourself?

Taylor Swift has always been the reason I began pursuing this dream. She’s been inspiring me from the very beginning. I’m also a big fan of Kelsea Ballerini and Maddie and Tae’s music. But when it comes to writing, I really admire Kacey Musgraves for her witty and humorous songs.

If you could choose any venue in the world, which one would you like to play most? 

There are so many amazing places to choose from.  The Grand Ole Opry would be amazing, and is definitely a dream of mine.  However, I think the coolest thing would be a sold out show in my home state. Saying that, my first choice would probably be Soldier Field in Chicago.

To finish, tell us about your plans in the coming weeks and months! 

First and foremost I will be heading back home to begin writing again for my EP.  Silverado Records has a lot planned for me in the upcoming months and we look forward to sharing all of that with you very soon!
