Sarah Shook and the Disarmers – Heal Me

The second song on out takeover day (chosen by Twitter user @littletigu) is Heal Me from Sarah Shook and the Disarmers. I first came across Sarah Shook when I saw the video for the brilliant ‘Dwight Yoakam’ and it immediately struck a chord and this song is just as good.

Sarah Shook and the Disarmers were recently named by Rolling Stones Country as one of ‘Ten to Watch’ in 2016, the article describing her as “a sneering fusion of punk-rock autonomy and say-it-like-it-is country from the classic era, paired with a timeless vocal warble and tons of attitude. Honest to a fault and as foul-mouthed as a drunken sailor, she’s a nonconforming spitfire who’s proud of not fitting in with mainstream country music.”
